COMPETITOR ROBOTS
BOTTWEILER
This was last years project from Southampton University. It entered the super heavyweight division, which is not presently shown on television. Its weaponry consists of a moveable circular saw. It is a six-wheeled sturdy robot. It is difficult to predict how it would fair in combat without a real trial.
HYPNO DISC
Hypno Disc has shown to have a very effective weapon in the last series. It consists of an extremely powerful spinning disc, which has ripped the shells of competitor robots. Its weapon covers approximately a third of its body, which is good for protection. It is although quite vulnerable at the back with no additional weapon. It lacks a self-righting mechanism but overall a successful design with average speed and manoeuvrability.
PANIC ATTACK
Panic Attack is a very successful robot having won the second Robot Wars competition. It has a low centre of gravity that is beneficial, as it is difficult to overturn. It has lifting spikes, which can flip opponents.
ROAD BLOCK
Road Block utilises the very effective wedge shape which is becoming very popular in Robot Wars. It has a zero turning circle which is useful when manoeuvring. Its primary weapon is the circular saw at the rear of the wedge. The ramp is used by pushing the opponents onto the slope and then they can be manoeuvred into certain locations. It has a two-wheeled design.
RAZOR
This robot was well designed. It used a crushing mechanism, which could damage the opponents body shell. It is a good idea as there are very few of these weapons in Robot Wars. Razor is also very nimble and controllable.
